Prudential Laos Launches the Free COVID-19 Care Fund to Battle Pandemic Together with Lao Residents
April 26th, 2021 - In light of the recent second wave of COVID-19 outbreak, Prudential Life Assurance Lao Company Limited (“Prudential Laos”) today announced the launch of the Prudential COVID-19 Care Fund (the “Fund”) to meet the Lao community’s protection needs. As a leading life insurer and a trusted partner in protection, Prudential Laos is offering this Fund as free-of-charge financial support to help safeguard the health of the Lao residents.
The Fund offers a support allowance of LAK 5,000,000 to successful registrants upon the diagnosis of COVID-19 and a lump-sum payout of LAK 15,000,000 upon the loss of life due to COVID-19.
From now until 31 May 2021 (subject to a quota of the first 100,000 registrations), all Laotians and people who hold a valid residency in Lao P.D.R. can register the Fund for themselves plus up to three co-living children. Successful registrants will be able to claim the Fund from 10 May to 31 July 2021.

Users of Pulse by Prudential (“Pulse”), the company’s all-in-one health and wellness app, can register the Fund for an additional allowance of LAK 5,000,000 (up to a total of LAK 20,000,000 for the family) upon the loss of life due to COVID-19. The Pulse app, downloadable for free, provides useful artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features such as Symptom Checker and Healthcheck to help users better manage their health.
The Fund also provides extra support to all frontline healthcare workers with an additional 50% support allowance amounting to LAK 7,500,000 upon the diagnosis of COVID-19 and up to LAK 30,000,000 upon the loss of life due to COVID-19.
All registrations are subject to a 14-day waiting period from the registration date and all eligible registrants can only claim the support allowance once.
Overview of Prudential COVID-19 Care Fund
Eligibility
- The Fund is subject to a maximum quota of 100,000 registrants (family members inclusive).
- [All Lao residents aged 18 to 60 are eligible to register the Fund for themselves and up to three co-living children below the age of 18.
Registration
- Registration for the Fund is available from 26 April 2021 to 31 May 2021 (both dates inclusive).
- The support allowances under the Fund will be available for claims from 10 May 2021 to 31 July 2021 (both dates inclusive).

Support Allowance of the Fund
- Each eligible registrant plus his/her registered children diagnosed with COVID-19 in Laos can apply for a one-off support allowance of LAK 5,000,000 within the dedicated period.
- The eligible registrant or his/her registered children who pass away as a result of COVID-19 in Laos can apply for a one-off support allowance of up to LAK 20,000,000 within the dedicated period.
- All confirmed cases of COVID-19 diagnosis must be supported by a medical report or laboratory test result approved by a hospital under the Ministry of Health. Claims of death as a result of COVID-19 must be confirmed by a registered doctor.
Special Notes
- Frontline healthcare or hospital workers are eligible for an additional 50% support allowance under the Fund. These workers are paid and voluntary staff in various roles (including doctors, nurses, laboratory workers, facility or maintenance workers, clinical trainees, and volunteers) serving the public health and private sectors in Lao P.D.R.
- To receive maximum protection, we encourage all registrants to download and register the Fund on our Pulse app. Registrants who are Pulse users will be eligible to receive an additional support allowance under the Fund.
